Gentler Deep Impact

July 4 a big screen was set up on Waikiki Beach to watch the Deep Impact probe encounter Comet Temple 1. Nearly 10,000 people showed up to watch. There is a lot of interest in astronomy out there!

Hello Louise,

the clip seems to have been removed from youtube. Too bad!

Cheers,

Great stuff. I went with my brother to a very quiet street in the middle of nowhere particular last week, because it had a good view of McNaught's comet, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a family there already, keen on viewing the comet. On the other hand, the following day my sister-in-law spoke to a guy with an astonishing view over the hills to the west, and his response to her query was "what comet?".

Another clip has been placed on the January 23 post. The comet was spectacular.
